Taxi

At the airport in HCMC you can get a taxi to Mui Ne for $80-90 ( 4 hours).  This is the quickest way to get to Mui Ne, and you should have no problem loading all your kiteing gear into the cab, and will also bring you straight to your hotel in Nui Ne.

 Bus (Air-con)

Alternatively a taxi to Pham Ngu Lao (cheap traveler accommodation in HCMC center), normally costs about $10 and from there you can easily arrange buses to Mui Ne. Most travel operators will sell bus tickets to Mui Ne for $6 and busses depart 8 am, and 8 pm. Usually take 3-4 hours to arrive

Sinh Café and Hanh Café both have daily bus services to/from HCMC.  Tam Han have a 1.30 p.m service also. Prices quoted are for sleeper busses, sitting should be marginally cheaper.

From Nha Trang busses depart between 7.30 am and 8 am and normally take 5 hours. (These can be book with most of the high street travel agents, but as with HCMC you may be better to book with the bus company direct. (Sinh Café, Hanh Café and Tam Hanh).

This is the most popular way to travel to Mui Ne, there is storage for your kite equipment under the bus (make sure you have it packed well). It is not unusual for the bus company to try to charge extra for very large luggage (sometimes they do, sometimes they don't), but if your feeling up to it you can try to charm your way in to a discount.

If arriving in the day time to Mui Ne, the bus will usually drop you off at its office centrally located. From there you can jump on the back of a motor bike taxi or flag down a car taxi both will happily take you to a hotel of your choosing or a hotel of their own choosing. If you have taken the later night bus to Mui Ne then the bus will drop you off outside your hotel (you must inform the driver or the drivers friend of your hotel name, better to talk with them prior to setting off on the journey).

 Train (Air-con)

Trains depart from the Saigon Train Station at both 6:45am and 7:30am during the week, and 5:30pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; arriving in Phan Thiet in just under 5hrs. The price for an air-con seat is usually around $6-$7, there is a small restaurant carriage, and toilet facilities are available (if your feeling adventurous). Trains usually depart from Phan Thiet at 1:40pm during the week, and 11:25pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; arriving in Saigon about 5 hours later.

Bare in mind, if traveling by train you will have to get a taxi to the train station in HCMC ($5 from Pham Ngu Lao), and then pay a taxi again to get from Phan Thiet to your hotel inMui Ne. ($6-8$).

There is no town centre as such,  so where ever you stay will become your centre. Mui Ne is spread out but the entire strip can be walked in 30 – 40 mins. Getting around on bicycle is easy, cheap and safer than renting a scooter. A vietnamese licience is required (for a moped greater than 50cc) to prevent confiscation of the vehicle and a fine, although Police are rarely active on the strip (presence is increasing during high season) but regularly check the roads to surrounding towns and villages.

Most hotels or travel agents can assist you with the rental, but as said before it is much safer to ride a bicycle here, but if you must rent a scooter then always wear a helmet!

Costs

Bicycle rental $2.50/day

Scooter $6/day- Petrol $1/litre

Jeep with driver 20-25$ half a day.

Walking - Free.

At almost any hour of the day there are motorbike taxis available, 10,000 vnd should get you anywhere on the strip, depending on the time (night or day). Prices on the street vary a lot so its up to you to negotiate a cheaper price.
